I have smoked for 20 years, and want to stop. I have tried in the past and find the hardest part are missing the oral fixation and also I get horribly mean. I have tried chantex and couldn’t sleep, I’ve tried the patch and i miss the hand to mouth part of it. Does anyone have any ideas??
Thank you,
You could always try hypnotherapy, as it has helped some people. As far as the "oral fixation," when you start getting the urge to put something in your mouth, you could, of course, put something more innocuous like peppermint gum, but trying to satisfy your oral fixation needs can lead to weight gain. The best thing to do when you feel that urge is something distracting. Go exercise, go for a walk, do something demanding a lot of attention. Mental tasks can work, too, but if it’s something simple like putting together a puzzle, it may not distract away enough from your cravings.
If nothing else, munch on some celery sticks.

Patches really helped me out. Some people will take a bite of a lemon when they are craving a smoke.

try fake ciggs
they look just like real ones and you can hold them when you get the urge
or switch to the "all natural" kind
and then slowly try to break free from those
goodluck.
