A friend of mine quit smoking one and a half years ago and started back up five weeks ago. It’s been a stressful time; his personal life, family life and work life have been kind of a mess. He said, even with all the pressures, he was surprised how easy it was to pick up what he calls his ‘filthy’ habit. At first it was just a cigarette a day, maybe more if he was drinking, but now it’s almost a pack a day again. He’s hoping to quit again, with a quit smoking aid, and stick with it this time.
Throw them away, I said! Obviously he’s strong enough to do it again, just like he’s done it before. The biggest hurdle is not giving up, even if you feel like you’ve fallen back or failed.
