my mother has been smoking cigarettes since she was 17 years old and now she is 48. she has quit ones for a week and she was feeling so happy and her skin was looking so beautiful but she started again.so i wanna know how i should help her stop without making her take pills.
please help. im very worried.

All you can do is being encouraging, not judgmental. the addiction is very strong but many people have quit cold turkey so she should try again. I believe I read that some people have to "quit" 4 or 5 times before they quit for good.

It's definitely to YOUR advantage if she quits.

I am taking Chantix and it works for me. I have smoked for 25 years and didn't think it would work but it did. I haven't smoked in about a month and a half.

You start taking chantix and keep smoking and in about 2 weeks the cravings go away enough so you can quit without too much difficulty. I am wondering what will happen when I stop taking Chantix.

I have been smoking for over 30 years. I have cut down significantly since my son was born, never smoking around him, never in the house. I would like to kick the habit and would like some advice on who has used what produce and had the most success.

Check with your Doctor and get some advise from American Cancer Society and/or the American Lung Association!

Hi im 17 years old and ive been smoking for over 2 years and i really want to quit but i cant afford nicroret products could anyone give me any tips please

i smoked from 13 to 23, i tried to quit 3/4 times, finally i did(aug ‘97)….here’s how: i started a new job, left my old one on purpose, and told the people at my new job that i am not a smoker. i quit going to any place that served alcohol or allowed smoking. i told everyone who knew me that i quit, and every one i met afterwards i was a non-smoker. i was now left with facing embarassment or humiliation, if i ever smoked again, and i got busy in my church, volunteering 3 or 4 times a week-a role that required a commitment not to smoke. i quit in one day, and never touched another one. p.s.- i wanted to quit, cuz i knew it was killing me,

the problem is when i do quit i get depressed for a long time and end up smoking again. i can't take any anti-depressents because i am on bi-polar medication and they told me anti-depressents will just make that worse. does anyone have any natural remedies to help with depression when i stop smoking? nicotine replacement never worked so i'm going to stop cold turkey but i do not want to be depressed for months. any help would be appreciated. thanks

After smoking for 27 years, I found that the "Nicotrol Inhaler" was the most valuable tool to help break the smoking habit.

With this, you would get the nicotine that you physically and mentally craved, however it was void of all of the other gases and carinogens that cigarettes contain. Plus it gave the hands something to do to compensate for the loss of the cigarette

Even though you do get slightly addicted to the nicotine of the Nicotrol Inhaler, it's very easy to quit at this point.

The only thing though–this requres a prescription from your doctor.

SMOKING AND MEDICATION?

Alright i just got some medication and I stopped smoking for a while but i am getting to a point where my body NEEDS a smoke lol. Right now i am taking nu-cephalex and nu-naproxin . . I think thats the words of the pills something around that ones an anti inflammatory and the other ani-bacterial or something i got stiches and its for that.

Have some ice water with a bit of tart juice in it and breathe deeply but DO NOT have that smoke!! I know how you feel right now, but don’t give in!!!

Get busy and do something interesting that involves you using your hands for something else.

DO NOT give in! You are half way there!!
