I am taking Chantix and it works for me. I have smoked for 25 years and didn't think it would work but it did. I haven't smoked in about a month and a half.

You start taking chantix and keep smoking and in about 2 weeks the cravings go away enough so you can quit without too much difficulty. I am wondering what will happen when I stop taking Chantix.

What is the most effective product to help me quit smoking?

I have been smoking for over 30 years. I have cut down significantly since my son was born, never smoking around him, never in the house. I would like to kick the habit and would like some advice on who has used what produce and had the most success.

Hi im 17 years old and ive been smoking for over 2 years and i really want to quit but i cant afford nicroret products could anyone give me any tips please

i smoked from 13 to 23, i tried to quit 3/4 times, finally i did(aug ‘97)….here’s how: i started a new job, left my old one on purpose, and told the people at my new job that i am not a smoker. i quit going to any place that served alcohol or allowed smoking. i told everyone who knew me that i quit, and every one i met afterwards i was a non-smoker. i was now left with facing embarassment or humiliation, if i ever smoked again, and i got busy in my church, volunteering 3 or 4 times a week-a role that required a commitment not to smoke. i quit in one day, and never touched another one. p.s.- i wanted to quit, cuz i knew it was killing me,

I have smoked for 20 years, and want to stop. I have tried in the past and find the hardest part are missing the oral fixation and also I get horribly mean. I have tried chantex and couldn’t sleep, I’ve tried the patch and i miss the hand to mouth part of it. Does anyone have any ideas??

You could always try hypnotherapy, as it has helped some people. As far as the "oral fixation," when you start getting the urge to put something in your mouth, you could, of course, put something more innocuous like peppermint gum, but trying to satisfy your oral fixation needs can lead to weight gain. The best thing to do when you feel that urge is something distracting. Go exercise, go for a walk, do something demanding a lot of attention. Mental tasks can work, too, but if it’s something simple like putting together a puzzle, it may not distract away enough from your cravings.

If nothing else, munch on some celery sticks.

It depends on how bad you’re addicted.

I used to smoke but i had only been smoking for about a year and then i just stopped buying packs and tried not to hang around people who smoke or told them to not smoke around me… just start cutting down and then make sure you dont get a pack.. none of that "This is my quitting pack" bullsh it either. And try not to bum cigarettes off anyone unless you are absolutely trippin balls. In fact tell them to help you and not to give you a cig. In the back of my head I always want a fuc king cigarette especially when i see someone smoking… but i just think of something else and go do something else… i havent had one in almost two months.

Anyways the odds that this will work are slim to none but if you wanna quit cold turkey i think that’s the only way.

Find a new healthy addiction like exercising.

Someone sent me a note recently, saying that they had tried the nicotine patch with no luck. They’re on the market for a new quit smoking product, one to help them quit by New Year’s.

No product can make you quit smoking if you don’t have the determination to do it. I quit years ago cold turkey. Not all of these “crutch” products were around then but some were. There are a lot of ways to quit smoking, user a quit smoking product or not, and it also depends on how long you’ve been smoking. The best ways are slowly lowering your dose (takes a long time sometimes), or going cold turkey (which is faster, but harder). Either way, the last thing is making the decision to quit, so you’ll eventually have to deal with the withdrawal.

For the most part, when you deal with withdrawal, you’ll just have to tough it out, but there are some things that can help cleanse out the toxins and may help to minimize some of the effects of withdrawal…
Drinking water will help to detox, and taking some supplements that work as cleansers may help as well.
