Are you actually considering trying the stop smoking laser to kick the habit? Sometimes if more traditional methods aren’t working, the cost of this technique might be worth it. Treatments run from $300 – $500, which, when you consider the cost of smoking, is worth it. But how does it work?
When the pulsating light of the laser is applied to certain acupuncture points, it is absorbed by the skin and cells to stimulate the endorphins that help block out the cravings while leaving you with a feeling of well being. You end up feeling better, with reduced cravings for cigarettes. It’s a fairly proven technique and one that many people find helpful.
Be sure to discuss with your doctor if you’re considering going this route. He might be able to suggest other treatments that are more affordable and easy to obtain.
This email was in my inbox the other day. I thought it was a good bit of info for anyone trying to stop smoking cigarettes:
I am 4 months pregnant. I have been smoking for about 10 years, pack a day. I tried the “cut down” method. I am around 5-10 a day now, but I cant get below that. So, I am going to do it cold turkey. I really don’t want to go through the trouble of quitting because my emotions are already shot, but it must be done. I would love to be able to lock myself in my bedroom for about a week. I quit before for about 4 months, cold turkey. Then all it took was a weekend of parties and I was right back smoking again. I know I CAN do it, it’s just maintaining the will power to stop. I have heard that the physical addiction is only about 3 days of the quitting, and that the rest is habit and psychological addiction. IF this is true then I can just plan on three days to freedom from physical addiction, correct? And then, they say, 28 days to make or break the habit. This one I believe. After a month of not smoking before when I did it, I felt strange even holding one. It felt foreign.
What I’m trying to say is, if you have a good enough reason to quit, like me, you can do it. Just plan on a month of struggle!
Even if you’ve tried other methods of quitting, you might find some relief in the stop smoking shot. Why? It actually blocks the nicotine receptors in the brain, giving you relief from cravings where they start: Your Head!
This is one to talk to your doctor about, cerainly, and only if you’ve tried other methods and found them lacking. Remember: you can do it!
Got this great email and wanted to share. I guess you don’t always have to have something fancy like a stop smoking laser!
You know- I’ve smoked for 21 years and tried to quit 7 times. I tried the patch, the gum, slowly cutting down. I got angry about the price and tried to quit 2 years ago again, and I was cheating in three days. Six months ago I finally had enough, I quit cold turkey bought a motorcycle , and every time I wanted to smoke I got on that bike and rode – The upshot is you realy have to want to quit, and I guess that you have to reward yourself adequately for doing it!
I have heard of a procedure called low-level laser therapy or “cold laser” therapy. While most of what I have heard suggests that this procedure is used mostly for treatment of wounds, there are several clinics that advocate the use of cold lasers to treat the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal, thus supposedly allowing a person to stop smoking, even if they have not previously been able to. Does anyone know if there is any documented medical evidence that supports this, and if so, where can I find it? Personal testimonials from people who have tried it and been successful will also be welcome.
There is such a thing as the stop smoking laser, and I have heard of some success stories. When the pulsating light of the laser is applied to certain acupuncture points, it is absorbed by the skin and cells to stimulate the endorphins that help block out the cravings while leaving you with a feeling of well being. It’s a fairly simple concept, but talk to your doctor about whether or not this is an appropriate treatment for you.
As people quit smoking, one of the most common complaints you hear, especially from women, is that they’re afraid of gaining weight. I personally don’t think this is a very legitimate claim. Sure, nicotine is an appetite-suppressant to a certain degree, and there is a school of thought claiming that it effects the metabolism, but when you actually quit and your body begins to heal itself, you’re energy level is going to double. This is true regardless of whether or not you’re using a stop smoking medication.
This will enable you to take part in all sorts of physical activity you weren’t previsouly able to enjoy. Even a brisk walk around your neighborhood every morning should keep any extra pounds at bay. Carve 10 minutes out of your day every day to indulge in an active pursuit – just get in the habit. You’ll not only be creating the new, healthier you, but any exess your’e afraid of putting on will kept at bay.
I desperately want to quit smoking but I don’t want to try any of the stuff on the market. I know a lot of people that smoke cigs and have tried all of this stuff and it just doesn’t work. I am very ashamed of this addiction and am very aware of all the health problems that stem from it. So please help.
This is a common problem. People feel ashamed that they can’t quit smoking, and maybe even ashamed that they started in the first place. They think that using a quit smoking product is just admitting that they were weak to begin with.
However, if you’re really wanting to quit, GO FOR IT. Quitting is awesome, but trying to quit never hurts. When you’re ready, just try cold turkey, or hard candy or gum. If you find the withdrawal is too much, talk to your doctor about finding a product to help you. Remember, it’s your body, your health, and your money.
Someone sent me a note recently, saying that they had tried the nicotine patch with no luck. They’re on the market for a new quit smoking product, one to help them quit by New Year’s.
As the patch didn’t have any effect, I’m thinking maybe will power is an issue here.
No product can make you quit smoking if you don’t have the determination to do it. I quit years ago cold turkey. Not all of these “crutch” products were around then but some were. The first few days were miserable but then things got better. Physical addiction is said to last only 24-48 hours so slapping on a patch simply prolongs this.
What finally got me over the hump was the realization that smoking is a ridiculous habit from a dollars and cents standpoint. For example, If you smoke a $7.00 pack per day and quit you’ve got an extra $7.00 that day or $49.00 by the end of the week and almost $215 by the end of the month. After a year you’ve got $2500 as a result of the simple act of not lighting a piece of weed and sucking the smoke into your lungs.
If you are 25 years old when you quit and you can earn 6% after taxes on your money you’ll have about $385,000 at age 65. Do you know how few people have this kind of cash when they retire? All you have to do to get it is to stop smoking! Keep your eye on the prize.
For health and medical reasons, some people are unable to use certain quit smoking aids. Pregnant women are advised against using many drugs, for example, such as Chantix. Skin sensitivities prevent others from using nicotine patches.
Have you had to replace one type of aid for another? What did you find to work best?
The stop smoking shot contains a combination of two different medicines that have actually been around for quite some time and are FDA approved. These medicines are Scopolamine (which is working ingredient in patches to alleviate sea-sickness) and Atarax (which is an antihistamine like Benadryl) in a unique formula to block the nicotine receptors in the brain and help ease the physical withdrawal associated with quitting smoking.
This shot can be a very effective treatment for people who haven’t found much relief using other methods. If you think this might be a good solution for you, talk to your doctor, as they’ll be able to steer you in the right direction.
