Stop Smoking Cigarettes

The Quit Smoking Laser and Weight Loss

I hadn’t realized this before, but the same laser clinics that can utilize the stop smoking laser can also use laser treatment to encourage weight loss, the same way hypnosis can.  This might be a great technique for someone really afraid of gaining weight when they give up cigarettes.  It’s just another way to use mind over matter!

Another Quit Smoking Aid

Someone emailed me this link for a quit smoking aid site and it looked like it might be worth checking out:  http://stopsmoking.eu.pn/

This is what they said about it:

This site is designed for everyone who seriously wants to stop smoking.

This site tackles smoking from an addiction perspective; It doesn’t matter if you are a five a day teenager, or a one hundred a day pensioner, male or female, or if this is your first or fiftieth attempt at stopping, if you follow all instructions, certainly you’ll become a non-smoker.

A Different Stop Smoking Pill

I looked on Google and saw this thing about Final Smoke system that sounds really good. It uses a pill. It says that you can quit smoking in 7 days. It is as seen on TV. Here are all of the things it says that it does:

  • Eliminates all desire to smoke
  • Keeps you relaxed and confident
  • Stops the mental and physical feelings of addiciton
  • Cigarettes simply begin to taste awful

It says that when using this, you can’t cheat because if you try to cheat yourself by smoking you can’t because the cigarettes will taste awful. It is also supposed to be safe. It’s proven to be very effective.  It might be worth checking into a little more.

The Cost of the Stop Smoking Laser

Although insurance does not yet cover the cost of being treated by the stop smoking laser, this little tidbit of information might encourage you to try it anyway:

The average cost of Laser Treatment is $299-$349 (varies per State). BUT, a pack a day smoker spends approximately $1,500 annually, which is less than 1/3 of a person’s typical annual cigarette expenditure.

Makes you think!

Stop Smoking Pills Require Prescriptions

I’ve had a lot of people write hoping to find a place where they can purchase a stop smoking pill like Chantix without having to see a doctor.  Unfortunately, these types of medications all require a prescription, and so they require a trip to the physician.  However, if might be worth it, as a doctor who knows your medical history can help you find the best method of treatment, taking into account your past reactions to medications and your physical and mental health.

A Bit About the Stop Smoking Laser

Here is what the American Cancer Society has to say about the stop smoking laser:

“Cold laser therapy providers advertise this method as a way to help people quit smoking, and some TV stations have reported this as news. The treatment is supposed to relax the smoker and release endorphins (naturally-occurring pain relief substances) in the body to simulate the effects of nicotine in the brain, or balance the body’s energy to relieve the addiction. Despite claims of success by some cold laser therapy providers, there is no scientific evidence that shows this is an effective method of helping people stop smoking. “

Is It Just Another Quit Smoking Aid?

Has anyone heard of the Allen Carr Method?  I don’t think this is just another quit smoking aid.  It seems like I’ve heard of a lot of people reading this and having it work for them.  This is what someone sent into me:

Get the Facts
Easyway, founded by Allen Carr in 1983, has the highest independently verified 12-month success rate (75.8% for a smoker completing the program) of any quit smoking technique and a 90% satisfaction rating.

Compare Easyway to other methods and see for yourself why Easyway is called “The Cadillac of quit smoking methods.”

The Allen Carr Method
HOW THE METHOD WORKS

Using psychotherapy, the method works in the opposite way to the “willpower” method. It does not concentrate on the reasons the smoker should not smoke : the money, the slavery, the health risks and the stigma. Smokers know all that already. Instead it focuses on why smokers continue to smoke in spite of the obvious disadvantages.

It is fear that keeps smokers hooked!

Fear the smoker will have to give up their pleasure or crutch. Fear the smoker will be unable to enjoy life or handle stress. Fear the smoker will have to go through an awful trauma to get free. Fear the smoker will never get completely free from the craving.

The Method removes these fears
Smokers quit with the Allen Carr Method as happy non-smokers, not feeling deprived but with a huge sense of relief and elation that they have finally achieved what they always wanted….

TO BE FREE!

What about the terrible withdrawal pangs from nicotine?

The physical withdrawal from nicotine is so slight that most smokers don’t realise that they are addicts. What smokers suffer when they try and quit using other methods is the misery and depression caused by the belief that they are being deprived of a pleasure or a crutch.

The Allen Carr Method removes this feeling of deprivation.
It removes the need and desire to smoke. Once the smoker is in the right frame of mind and they follow the simple instructions, the physical withdrawal from nicotine is hardly noticeable.

No Gimmicks!

The Method does not use any gimmicks, useless aids or substitutes. No nicotine gum, patches, lozenges, tabs, inhilators or nasal sprays! No needles! No lasers! No drugs! No herbs! No shock treatment!

The Allen Carr Method is successful because:

It removes the smokers’ conflict of will.
There are no bad withdrawal pangs.
It is instantaneous and easy.
It is equally effective for long-term heavy smokers and light smokers.
You need not gain weight.
You will not miss smoking.

It sounds kind of gimmicky but I’m starting to think maybe it’s a really great thing to try out.

How Do You Get A Husband To Stop Smoking Cigarettes?

What a great question.  Here are a few good ideas on how to get a husband to stop smoking cigarettes, not stating the obvious:

  • Tell him his breath stinks.  Because it does.
  • Stop cleaning out the ash trays.
  • Help him find activities that encourage physical activity, like taking a family bike ride together.
  • Go to the doctor with him and discuss aids he might be able to use to help him quit.
  • Give him as much support as you can while his attitude ‘adjusts’ to becoming a non-smoker as he goes through withdrawal!

The Unlikely Quit Smoking Product

This was an encouraging letter from someone who used hypnosis as a ‘quit smoking product’:

I quit smoking but I am having cravings – stress – and I want something to take the edge off – mentally.

I believe it was Samuel Clemens who said, “Giving up smoking is the easiest thing in the world. I know because I’ve done it thousands of times.”

For me, when I was a smoker, this wit-full insight struck home. I had tried almost every conceivable means of relieving myself of this horrid addiction. Medication, nicotine gum, “cold-turkey”, “tapering off”, herbal remedies, etc, etc. Nothing worked! Oh sure, I would be free of “the weed” for a short time… I believe I managed for almost 3-weeks once. I was at my wits end. Difficulty breathing, chest pains, horrid breath, bad taste in my mouth, … I don’t need to go on…. you know what it’s like.

A co-worker suggested that I try hypnosis. After researching and questioning those who promised relief through hypnosis I decided to give it a try. I logically reasoned that the cost of the therapy session was equal to the cost of smoking for 2-weeks. Therefore if I could be smoke free for 2-weeks I would break even.. any longer and I would be a winner.

I went! One session is all it took. I went in a smoker and came out a non-smoker. That was 17-years ago. I remember being a smoker before that day, but since then all “attachment” to tobacco has been removed. No emotional attachment, no cravings, and no addiction. Hypnosis works!

A Brief List of Ways to Stop Smoking Cigarettes

Want to stop smoking cigarettes?  Try an idea or two off of this list:

  • Take seven deep breaths every time you crave a cigarette.
  • Stop hanging out with other smokers.
  • Stop hanging out in smoking establishments.  Try a walk in the park instead.
  • Drink a large glass of very cold water when you crave a cigarette.
  • Suck on hard candy, or chew gum.
  • Find a support group in your area, or even an online support group.
  • Remember how much cigarettes cost!!

None of these things will cost you a dime, which is 100% less than what a cigarette or product to help you quit will!  What can it hurt?  Spend three days practicing these techniques, and that’s long enough for the nicotine to be gone from your system.
